Starting Nursery

Starting nursery is a big step for both parents and children and we suggest that you come along for a visit to Rainbow where one of our Managers will be happy to give you a tour of the facility and let you meet the staff.

You can discuss the settling in time for your child making it a smooth and pleasant transition for all. All settling in time is free of charge. For more information please do not hesitate to contact us.

Tooth Brushing

Throughout the year your child will be involved in a tooth brushing programme supported by West Lothian Council. All children are provided with free toothbrushes.

Good dental habits developed at an early age will be carried through to adulthood. Children learn basic hygiene principles and develop toothbrushing skills by brushing their own teeth.

Activities

As well as every day indoor activities we aim to take the children out in the garden every day weather permitting. We may also take the children on local outings to the library, local shops, and the local country park such as Beecraigs or Muiravonside.

Outing forms will be signed by parents on induction; we ask that you send your child in appropriate clothing and footwear for outside play.

French Lessons

In our pre-school room we currently have French lessons which the children can take part in. This is organised through the French teacher (please see the pre-school room supervisor for more information).

Learning French at nursery for young children is a fun and enjoyable experience and is proven to improve children's overall learning capabilities.

Meals

Rainbow Nursery provides healthy, nutritious snacks and meals which are prepared by our full time cook. There are vegetarian options available, and we also provide for most special dietary requirements. The morning session includes a snack and lunch, with the afternoon session including only a snack. Monthly menus are available for parents, if you would like to receive one please feel free to contact us. A choice of water or milk is also be offered with meals and snacks.
